National Healthcare Trust ensures that the root causes of major challenges in
the health delivery system such as staff competency, vacancy levels and
turnover are addressed through supporting the students studying towards health
sciences qualifications and training of various health personnel who are
462 Village Health Workers have
been trained and equipped with bicycles, uniforms, solar cell phones and lines;
60 Environmental Health
Technician trained, 24 equipped with motor bikes and protective clothing;
Over 300 students at the
University of Zimbabwe's College of Health Sciences assisted with fees and
learning materials to the tune of US$1
30 District Executives in
the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare trained in Health Facilities
Management at Community School of Medicine Established.
National Healthcare Trust Zimbabwe, in collaboration with Council for
Assisting Refugee Academics a British charitable organisation, set up a Virtual Learning Hall at University of Zimbabwe for e-learning
purposes, benefiting over 500 students studying towards Bachelor
of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing Sciences, Radiology and Occupational
Health qualifications to access lectures from participating Universities and
academics outside Zimbabwe. This initiative has contributed towards innovative
bridging of severe teaching gaps caused by the massive brain drain which
Zimbabwe suffered from during its economic and political down turn.
