launch of a virtual lecture hall at the university of zimbabwe

CARA & ECONET

CARA & ECONET Wireless recently installed 'Life Size' video conference equipment into a College of Health Science Lecture Hall on the University of Zimbabwe's main campus.

The purpose of this project is to enable 'Virtual Lectures' to be streamed in, from around the world, as supplementary lectures and seminars for students and lecturers at the College of Health Science and the Faculties of Science and Veterinary Science. With a screen in place, a number of speakers, and the necessary bandwidth, students and lecturers will be able to view the lecture slides and those participating from outside Zimbabwe.

The official launch is this Friday 29th June 2012 at the University of Zimbabwe, from 9 -12pm. If you would like to be part of this, either in Harare or from London (we will be connecting virtually from this address: 10 Bow Lane, London, EC4M 9AL).

Academics, Zimbabwean and non Zimbabwean, who wish to be involved should contact National Healthcare Trust Zimbabwe on info@nationalhealthcaretrust.org.zw or CARA (The Council for Assisting Refugee Academics) at 90 London Road, London SE1 6LN. Tel +44 (0) 207 021 0880 or D/L 0882 or Send us an Email, otherwise visit the Website directly with details of their teaching background in the Health, Natural and Veterinary Sciences and where they are based. If you are already committed to lecturing a subject elsewhere, your lecture could be streamed simultaneously into the CARA/Econet Lecture Hall. For those who would be keen to engage from their home lap top (+ camera), there are a licences that will enable you to engage with this programme via an IP address. Please contact us for more details.

The equipment will also be available to hire outside teaching hours. Please contact Mr Takavarasha for more details.
